  • We encourage children to wear Whiston Willis sweatshirt or cardigan and polo shirt.
  • We provide children with a healthy snack, fruit and milk during every session. For this we ask a contribution of £1.50 per week payable on Mondays.
  • P.E. will be each Monday. However, it is important that P.E. kits remain in school for the duration of the week as this can sometimes change.
  • Wellington boots can now be kept in Reception as we always enjoy outdoor play! Please ensure they are named.

The Early Years Foundation Stage

Your child will be joining the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at Whiston Willis. Foundation stage includes both the Nursery and Reception classes.

Children learn through play. They develop new skills, discover new things about themselves and the world around them and learn to share and communicate with others. They also have the opportunity to use their imagination and to be creative. Planning is based on children's interests and there is always a clear purpose to the structured activties we plan in order to provide an appropriate, good-quality Foundation Stage Curriculum.

The curriculum throughout the Foundation Stage is designed around the needs of the young child and is organised into seven areas of learning:

1. Communication and Language

2. Physical Development

3.Personal, Social and Emotional Development

4. Literacy

5. Mathematics

6.Understanding the World

7. Expressive Arts and Design
