It is our overall aim to provide children with a happy, caring environment in which they can develop their full potential. We shall create an atmosphere where all individuals are valued and encouraged to meet challenges and to show consideration to others. Together with you, the parents and carers, we shall provide your child with the best possible start to their education.
Nursery Information
- We encourage children to wear Whiston Willis school sweatshirt or cardigan and polo shirt.
- We provide children with a healthy snack, fruit and milk during every session. For this we ask a contribution of £1 per week payable on Mondays.
- PE is every Thursday. Pumps, white T-shirt and jogging trousers are needed on this day.
- Wellington boots can be kept in Nursery as we always enjoy outdoor play! Please ensure they are named.
- Home Activity books are sent home on Fridays with a weekly newsletter. These are to be returned on Mondays for our ‘show and tell’ session.
- Please remember to clearly label all your child’s clothing, bags and footwear.
The Early Years Foundation Stage
Your child will be joining the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at Whiston Willis. Foundation stage includes both the Nursery and Reception classes.
Children learn through play. They develop new skills, discover new things about themselves and the world around them and learn to share and communicate with others. They also have the opportunity to use their imagination and to be creative. Planning is based on children's interests and there is always a clear purpose to the structured activities we plan in order to provide an appropriate, good-quality Foundation Stage Curriculum.
The curriculum throughout the Foundation Stage is designed around the needs of the young child and is organised into seven areas of learning:
1. Communication and Language ) 3
2. Physical Development ) prime
3.Personal, Social and Emotional Development ) areas
4. Literacy ) 4
5. Mathematics ) specific
6.Understanding the World ) areas
7. Expressive Arts and Design )
We hope that your child’s time in Nursery will be the start of a long and happy relationship with Whiston Willis.
