School Games Award

What is the School Games Award?

The School Games Mark is a government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Participating in this process allows schools to evaluate their P.E. provision and assists them in developing an action plan for future progress.

This and more information can be found on the School Games Mark website here.

School Games Mark at Whiston Willis

In 2015-2016, our whole school focus was to increase child participation in extra-curricular sports clubs. We successfully achieved this with over 20 different sports being offered before, during and after school. For our commitments, we were awarded the Silver Award.

In 2017-2018, our whole school focuses were:
- To increase particpation in competitive sports (intra and inter).
- To focus on the provision for children identified as SEN in sport by increasing their participation in physical activity.

After what was another successful year for sports at Whiston Willis, we were awarded the Gold Schools Mark Award. We are so proud of this achievement and endeavour to maintain this commitment to story in 2018-2019.

Please see below the criteria information for each level of award and the full report from our inspection.
