What is PE and Sport Premium?

PE and Sport Premium is additional government funding provided to primary schools to make sustainable improvements to physical education (PE), physical activity and school sport.

The funding supports schools in providing high-quality sporting opportunities, increasing participation and promoting healthy, active lifestyles for all pupils.

Our Approach at Whiston Willis

At Whiston Willis Primary Academy, we are committed to providing an inclusive and engaging PE curriculum that develops pupils' physical skills, confidence, teamwork and wellbeing.

Our PE curriculum is delivered through Get Set 4 PE, complemented by extracurricular clubs, sporting competitions and wider opportunities for physical activity. We are proud to have achieved the Platinum School Sport Partnership Award, recognising our commitment to school sport.

As a UNICEF Gold Rights Respecting School, we aim to ensure that all children, including those with SEND, have opportunities to participate, develop their abilities and enjoy physical activity.

We use PE and Sport Premium funding to support sustainable improvements through:

• Developing staff confidence, knowledge and skills in delivering high-quality PE.

• Increasing pupils' participation in regular physical activity.

• Promoting PE, physical activity and sport across the academy.

• Providing a broader range of sporting experiences and opportunities.

• Encouraging participation in competitive sport.
